About Me
I have been priviliged to work as the Group Editorial Director on FX and Blueprint magazines for many years but have always held on to my hands-on role as FX editor for 19 years, changing and moving the magazine to the developing industry and its events, its ambition, and its celebration of the industry. Throughout which I really enjoyed thinking differently and was proud to launch the controversial and provocative FX Talks with its radical thinking theme, and produced and chaired over 60 FX Design seminars tackling the controversial issues confronting architecture and design. Not least the mighty FX Awards which celebrated the good, the excellent and the downright outrageous - and a party to reflect that. I left my beloved FX and the FX Awards earlier this year in 2025.
Incidentally though, my background is fine art which I studied in London, Manchester and Chicago - and I still practice and have a studio in Deptford since leaving art college many years ago and have maintained throughout my entire professional career. This background enabled me to forge great links whilst at FX with the Tate, The National Gallery and The V&A and involve our architects and design community worldwide, together with university institutions who also participated in editorial features. They were amazing features which I loved facilitating. It's testament to the briliant brains and sparkling talent of the architects and designers that have supported me throughout my career that has made FX buzz with provocative and challenging features.
I'm still working in the A & D industry and I love bringing people together to discuss architecture and design issues. And that means bringing together contractors and suppliers with designers; designers with architects; and architects/designers with developers too. If you think I could help with your business, or you'd like me to conduct a design discussion or something much more ambitious, I'd be delighted to hear from you.
